Staff to Tele-post 20.09.11.

On behalf of our customer Greenland Tele-post, FMS are currently seeking Faroese staff for the Port Denmark and Prince Christian Sound.

The station staff at Port Denmark and in Prince Christian Sound, are working on temporary contracts, thus continually going on staff turnover, partly as a replacement, partly reinstated.

Works assignment:
Station staff have roles as, respectively station manager, chef / kitchen assistant, telecom technician, engineer / machinist, station employee, weather observer and building service employee.

The tasks include:
Station Manager – Personnel in cooperation with the Weather Service commander. Correspondence, post-salary- and station records. Ordering products in cooperation with the professionals responsible.

Chef / kitchen assistant – Daily planning and preparation of the food, including daily cleaning of kitchen facilities. Must be trained chef or kitchen assistant with minimum 2-3 year’s experience in the area.

 

Chief engineer / machinist – Operation and maintenance of the station’s power grid, machinery, engines, rolling stock, sanitation, water supply systems, cooling plant, oil fired heating system, tank plant, railways and engineering workshop. Must be able to drive tractors and forklifts.

 

Station Employee – Lighter maintenance of buildings etc. Cleaning of communal areas, waste disposal, driving tractors and forklifts, and other jobs. Furthermore, cooking at the chef’s days off.

Telecom Technician for Prins Christian Sund – Responsible for operation and maintenance of radio equipment and other digital electronics.

For all positions you shall also participate in all jobs, including collecting meteorological data.

Qualification needed:

Relevant training.
Staying at one of these work places requires both physical and mental strength, flexibility and good interpersonal skills and good health stagnation, why the appointment will be conditional on that before accession can be documented satisfactory health by medical certificate and dental statement. It will only in extraordinary situations be possible to leave the place during the employment period.

The aim is that the staff can demonstrate first aid training or equivalent.

Salary – terms and conditions:
For all positions applies that there are free to – and resignation travel to either Port Denmark orPrins Christians Sund, and tax free food and lodging during their stay. The appointment will be made on an individual contract and contract length arranged individually for the individual positions, usually at least four months.
